Christmas Ride blog event
We put up the Christmas tree, hang the lights on the house, sing a carol, and bake cookies, candy and fudge. It’s the same routine and I for one love the emotional response I get from twinkling lights and the scent of cinnamon and nutmeg.
But this year, instead of feeling tired and glad that the shopping, holiday parties, and making magic are over for another year, I’m going to start a new tradition. Nothing gratuitous, but I’m going to fill a need in me and gift myself with something special I can continue until next season when all the magic happens again.
Each year I make a New Year’s resolution to be healthy, happy and wise. (okay, healthy, happy and wise translate to lose weight, take a vacation, and be wise and stick to a budget.)
This year I’m going to find something that will make a difference in my world. I don’t know if it will be one morning a week at the coffee shop with my laptop, or perhaps an evening going to bed an hour early, letting my husband put the children to bed so that I can read a sexy story from the Scarlet Rose garden. (Then maybe he’ll come to bed early too.)
So if you could start a new tradition just for you, what would you like that to be?
Those who comment will be put into a drawing for a 6.00 gift certificate to the Wilder Roses bookstore.
Thank you

It's snowing today, and it snowed yesterday and according to the local news, I can look forward to several more inches. Who doesn't love several inches? lol I prefer my inches not to be of snow but on a hot, muscular, dark-haired, dark-eyed...well now I digress...or perhaps I'm just making a holiday wish. this is the time for magic and miracles. so perhaps I'll have a special guest for dinner. something yummy like
I can make room for a few more.

Foretaste of Forever is a short, erotic romance, filled with love, passion, and sadness. Elyesha loves Ben, and has loved him before she even met him. Her vision showed him to her and she feel in love instantly. Her love for him, followed by her grief and loneliness after losing him, was an almost palpable thing. Ben feels the same for her, but he fights their love with everything he is and has. He knows that the cost of their love is too high and he sacrifices his own heart and happiness to avoid paying that price. This fast paced story had me sighing from the passion and love and nearly crying with sorrow for these two soul mates. I enjoyed Foretaste of Forever and look forward to reading more of Christina Phillips’ work.

The birth of an anthology....
Paisley Scott,
Devon Gray,
April Vine and
Ana Aragón.
All of our books will be released as individual novellas. Needless to say, I was flattered to be in such talented company!
BTW: Check out Devon's excellent interview with editor Jennifer Haley for more insight into this wonderful idea for four unique stories.
SUGAR SHACK is my contribution and is available now from The Wilder Roses. My hero, Luke Mackenzie, owns a Maple farm in snowy Vermont. Catherine Bennett is a journalist for a travel magazine who was once engaged to Luke, but left after college graduation -- lured away by what lay outside the confines of her small New England town. Ten years have passed since they've seen each other... can they temper the feelings that still linger? Or will they pick up where they left off a decade ago?
BLURB:
Ten years ago, Catherine Bennett said good-bye to her fiancé, Luke MacKenzie, and his maple farm in Vermont. She wanted to be somebody. She wanted to break out of a small town existence and live the city life. But the higher she flew, the less satisfied she was, in love and life. She had left her heart behind. And she'd never forgotten the sizzling sex with blond-haired, muscular Luke.
Now, when her job takes her back home to Vermont, old feelings flame to life. But is Luke still interested? Is he married? And can he ever forgive her for leaving him so long ago? Only one thing's for sure; there's still an attraction. And their reconciliation will burn hotter than the fireworks that light up the New Years Eve sky!
Here's an excerpt:
Standing not ten feet away was the man she used to dream about. Still dreamed of, she corrected. God, he looked good. Even better than she remembered. Tall and broad-shouldered, with a thick thatch of wind-tousled dark blond hair. Even from this distance, she could see the surprise in his maple-colored eyes.
A smile curved his lips before he could temper it. “Cat?”
The pet name had slipped out before he could check himself. She loved when he called her that. His husky voice made it sound like an endearing purr.
“Hi, Luke,” she managed around a tongue that suddenly felt as dry as cotton. “You look good.” He did look good. Hell, he looked better than good. He looked fan-damn-tastic. She fought the overwhelming impulse to run and throw her arms around him. Instead, she hugged herself and took a few tentative steps toward him.
He nodded, the gaze he leveled on her now more composed and guarded. “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t surprised to see you here after all this time.”
Cutting straight to the chase was Luke’s way. She couldn’t help the small laugh that fell from her lips. “Always down to business, aren’t you?”
He nodded. “Most of the time, yes. I’m not very good at games.”
“I guess that depends on the game,” she murmured. Unbidden, her mind conjured images of them role-playing in the barn’s loft. She’d played the part of a Swedish milkmaid and he was a soldier, separated from his regiment, and who wandered onto her father’s farm. The game began as nothing more than a silly escape, but turned into one of the hottest sexual experiences they’d ever shared. Even now, she couldn’t smell hay without thinking of hot, sweaty, mind-blowing sex.
His eyes softened a bit, and she wondered if he joined her in the memory. Then he frowned. “I’m sorry for being blunt, but what are you doing here?”
Time to pay the piper. “Honestly, I was headed home for the holidays, but the weather wasn’t willing to cooperate the entire way. I’m afraid I won’t make it another two hours on the road. I was wondering if I could...I was hoping I could wait out the storm here. I would also like to apologize for being such an immature bitch ten years ago.” There, she’d said it. It was now the elephant in the room and she’d put it there, unchained.
He looked surprised for a moment, then raised an eyebrow. “Wow.” Pulling the suede work gloves off his hands, he shoved them into the back pocket of his jeans and crossed his arms across his chest, the wool-trimmed denim jacket bunching at the shoulders with his movements. “You wait this long to tell me something you could have told me if you’d returned even one of at least twenty phone messages I left for you over the past ten years?”
Warmth flamed in her veins and traveled swiftly up her neck to her face. “I apologize for that, too,” she managed. “All I can say is I was a totally different person then.”
“And now you’ve changed?” he asked, cocking his head.
She nodded. “I hope so, yes.”
He took a deep breath and released it slowly, the heat of his exhale turning to frost as it hit the frigid air. “I happened to like the person you were.”
A butterfly flapped to life in her tummy. “I’ve tried to improve on the older model.” She took off her own gloves and wiped her palms on her coat before extending her right hand to him. “I hope we can work out some kind of friendship, Luke. I’ve missed you in my life.”
He looked at her hand for a long moment, then stretched out his own to grasp hers. Electricity flowed at the contact and Catherine felt a warmth like no other when their palms touched.
“You’re even more beautiful than I remember, Cat,” he said, pulling her to him and embracing her tightly.
Burrowed against him, Catherine inhaled his scent deep into her lungs. God, he smelled so good. Leather, wood, earth, maple, everything unique to this man. He smelled of home. She nearly lost it in his arms. She wanted nothing more than to just be held by him and cry against his chest. But she had to be strong. She had to see if there was anything worth salvaging between them. And that would take time.

Helen Hardt
Contemporary erotic romance
Available from The Wild Rose Press August 2008
It looks like Allison Sanchez’ two week vacation is going to start out well when she’s picked up at the airport by one of the hottest men she’s ever met. It’s just too bad they can’t communicate. When he takes her to her brother’s place one thing leads to another and they’re tangled in the sheets when her brother Mike walks in. Turns out the man who only talks with his body language is his partner Dylan Johnson, as American as she is.
Helen Hardt writes a fun story of fulfilling a fantasy made easier by what seems to be a language barrier. Dylan refuses to feel guilty or let her be too frustrated by the mix up that he let happen. Allison has way too much fun to stay too embarrassed for very long. It seems that her usual shy demeanor is just too hard to hold onto when she and Dylan get together!
There’s some great one sided conversations, hot eroticism and a lot of fun in this book. It kept me smiling on every page! I highly recommend this as a fun interlude when you need a light hearted romp through the pages of fiction in an exotic location.

Toy Play or the natural way?
I consider myself lucky that my guy likes 'play time' as much as I do. Some men and women just aren't into all the frills and they prefer playing nice to playing naughty. They want to focus on the intimate moment without any added distractions.
In Santa Knows I'm Naughty, Aimee loves the new 'toy' her hubby, Nathan, got her for Christmas. Nathan and her new 'friend' know exactly how to make her happy.
Eve and Shay don't use toys in Vertical Climax, but they do come up with some very interesting positions.
So which do you prefer – toy play or the natural way?

It's All About Me
Who is Anita Philmar?
Good Question with no easy answer.
We are all unique in our own way. Yet, when you start telling others about who you are or what you're like, the descriptions all begin to sound the same.
I don't want to be the same. Wild and Crazy, meak and shy, at times we all have these characteristics, some of us more than others.
I'm a normal person with a husband, two kids, and two dogs. I love people and enjoy meeting new friends as well as old friends. I spend most of my time alone, because I chose to be a writer.
For some this would be the kiss of death, for me it's a joy because I can visit new worlds and go to exotic places. No rules, except the ones I create. Bad characters that my characters can slay. Situations that I control. Oh, but its great to be all powerful.
In my first erotica, I tried to put everything I enjoyed reading, a mystery with an off-world romance with lots of sex.
Hey, what more could a person want?
Happy with the results of Black Dragon's Blood, I couldn't leave the people with dragon blood alone and wrote two more books in the series.
I'm currently doing the edits for Black Dragon's Moon.
It should be out in the next couple of months.
As you can see authors fall in love with their characters as much as the readers do.
The last book in the series is Black Dragon's Heart. Don't know yet when that one will be showing up on the book shelves, but I think it's my favorite.
Now, you know for than you ever wanted to about me, but if you want to check out some of my favorite fantasies visit my blog -

Hope you have a wonderful day full of fun-loving sex.

Doctor, Doctor!
"Where does it hurt, my dear?"
"Mmm, anywhere you're not touching me."
During childhood, most of us played dress up and acted out a fantasy. Whether it was playing house, doctor or teacher, it was our way of mimicking adults. Some adults never lose the need to act out fantasies, making role playing a popular device in the bedroom as well as in erotic romance.
What do you think makes role playing hot? And what's your favorite fantasy/role to play?

Favorite Things
Favorite Ice Cream – Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food...Chocolate ice cream, gooey marshmallow, swirls of caramel, yummy little chocolate fishies....ahhhh, it doesn’t get much better than that! I also recommend Karamel Sutra, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, New York Super Fudge Chunk & Coffee Heath Bar Crunch!
Favorite Fruit – Strawberries ‘n’ Cream...Okay, the cream isn’t technically ‘fruit’, but I can’t eat strawberries without it.
Mix well one 8 ounce cream cheese with one 7 -7 ½ ounce jar Marshmallow fluff and chill.
Favorite Vegetable – Zucchini...I love it baked with a savory mix of bread crumbs, mushrooms, tomatoes, fresh basil, and parmesan cheese. But nothing beats chocolate-chocolate chip zucchini bread. Here’s the recipe – enjoy!
Chocolate-Chocolate Chip Zucchini Bread
Mix together: 3 cups flour1 ½ teaspoons baking powder½ cup sugar1 teaspoon baking soda2/3 cup brown sugar1 teaspoon salt1/3 to ½ unsweetened cocoa powder Then add: 3 beaten eggs2 cups shredded zucchini¾ cup vegetable oil2 teaspoons vanilla1 cup chocolate chips
Mix well, divide between two greased bread pans, and bake at 325 for about an hour.
* * *
Favorite Soup – Cream of Potato...Nothing makes my husband happier than a bowl (or three) of homemade Cream of Potato Soup! The key is the leeks, I won’t make it without them.
Favorite Meal – Swedish Meatballs, and no, not the Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom soup kind! I like them over white rice, I like them over noodles, but nothing is yummier than Swedish Meatballs over mashed potatoes, baby!
Favorite Dessert – Chocolate Dreams...Which is exactly what they are, literally, since Piggly Wiggly’s bakery no longer carries them...:::sniff:::... Moist Chocolate cake, a huge dollop of real whipped cream, covered in a thick blanket of chocolate ganache. I miss you, my little darlings!
Favorite Food To Have Eaten Off Of Me – Hot Fudge...Because it’s nice and sticky and takes a lot of extra licks to get off. ;-)
Favorite TV Series (past) – Little House on the Prairie & Buffy the Vampire Slayer...Okay, yeah, from one end of the spectrum to the other...LOL But both of these shows were phenomenal in my book.
Smart, snappy dialogue, monsters galore, and two of the hottest vampires ever, Angel and Spike...sigh...Luckily, Santa Claus bought my daughter the whole series on DVD for Christmas last year, so mommy can get her Angel/Spike fix any time she needs it. ;-)
No one tugged at the heartstrings like Michael Landon in Little House on the Prairie. And those episodes were written with such emotion...something I try to incorporate in my own stories. I’ve seen each episode numerous times, yet if I’m flipping through the channels and I come across one, I can’t help but stop and watch (same with the movie Roadhouse starring Patrick Swayze
*side note – The pen name Liza James is a play on Walnut Grove’s school teacher/Laura’s sister-in-law, Eliza Jane.*
Favorite TV Series (present) – Bones & House
The only thing I’d ever seen Hugh Laurie in before House was the Stuart Little movies, so I wasn’t sure if this series would interest me. Boy, was I wrong! Hugh Laurie is not only funnier than I ever imagined he could be, but each episode manages to grab & hold my interest until the very end. I sure hope House has several more seasons in its future! I hate saying goodbye!
Bones is another homerun for me. Yes, I love me some David Boreanaz, but the whole cast is awesome. And the chemistry between Booth and Bones is undeniably hot!
Favorite Food Network Shows – Iron Chef (the original & America), all of the Food Network Challenges, and Good Eats! I could listen to Alton Brown talk all day...LOL
Favorite Soap Operas – All My Children, Days of Our Lives & One Life To Live.
Favorite Sitcom – Two & A Half Men...LOL Funny! I swear, some episodes I have to sit with my legs crossed I laugh so hard!
Favorite Publisher - *Warning-the following answer contains heavy sucking up* The Wild Rose Press.
Favorite Review – Branded - By Liza James Written by Chrissy Dionne, Romance Junkies"Liza James’ short story BRANDED will have readers’ toes tingling with the intensity of the sexual encounters between Troy and Lily. From the first page right through to the last there’s no doubt that this couple is meant to be together. What I hadn’t expected was to become so enraptured by the tale that I didn’t want it to end. At only nineteen pages BRANDED is an excellent short story that will satisfy your need for a hot story when you don’t have a whole lot of time to invest in reading. Wonderfully written Ms. James!”
Favorite Yahoo Group – http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EroticCravings
EroticCravings is a group of erotic romance writers who are very close to my heart: KyAnn Waters, Meagan Hatfield, Eden Rivers, and me! I’m so lucky to be a part of them!
Favorite Season – Fall! Perfect weather, gorgeous foliage, pumpkin pie, and Halloween!
Favorite Holiday – *See Favorite Season*
Favorite Way To Relax – Reading a great book in a hot bubble bath!
Favorite Movie Genres – Horror & Comedy...some of my all-time favorites, just to name a few:
Horror: The Changeling, Dracula (1979), Salem’s Lot (1979 - what can I say, it was a good year), The Ring, The Exorcist, The Shining, The Omen, Christine, Carrie, My Bloody Valentine, Evilspeaks....wow, I could go on forever!
Comedy: Arthur, Just One of the Guys, Easy Money, Stir Crazy, Back To School, Porky’s, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Bachelor Party, National Lampoon’s Vacation (Okay, so I’m stuck in the 80s.

Oh, Aren't We Clever?
As a writer, one of my favorite things is when I experience what I like to call "writer's literary bliss". Usually some kind of impromptu dance around my office ensues, so high am I on my sheer brilliance. Because really, could anyone else be so clever? So bright? So...funny? Of course, the moment is short-lived and I remember that little monster called subjectivity. What I find to be one of the greatest literary gems ever to be penned will be seen by others as, well, words on the page. Words their eyes roll over, bringing them to a passage they find clever, a string of words that did nothing for me. I believe that writers have their favorite passages in the books they create and send prayers heavenward the editor won't try to cut "this scene...this line...this incredible fruit of my creative mind". In my book "Addicted", here is one of my passages that delighted me to no end (excerpt contains explicit sexual content...as if you care, right?).
He leaned in and kissed me, his tongue running along my bottom lip in a coaxing tease. “I want to make you come, Jane. But I want to do it with my mouth. Please let me taste you.”
I never said yes. I never said anything at all. This is the kind of reaction that results in your underwear being shoved into a man’s back jeans pocket. I didn’t think about my lack of response, however. It was difficult to think of anything after his mouth was on me.
As readers, we also have passages and scenes we have experienced from an author's voice that live with us. I'll never forget a scene I read years ago from a Nora Robert's novel titled "Command Performance". Here's the short version: Eve is girl who grows into a woman who has always had a crush on Prince Alexander (her father is close to the royal family), but is overly intimidated by him. She is friends with the other royal siblings, calling them by their first name, but only addresses Alexander by his title. The prince has always harbored feelings for her, and is frustrated to no end that she is so standoffish, and very jealous of her close relationship with his brother. When she stumbles upon him in the stable, he confronts her about how she addresses him (I'm getting all tingly just thinking about what's to come). He corners her, fitting his hand into her hair at the nape. "Say my name," he says in his intimidating timbre, hovering over her. When his name spills tenatively from her lips, he is on her like white on rice. Hot. So, what book scence hangs in your mind?

How Bad do YOU want to be?
Fortuneteller, my current release, is being followed at some point by Bad Enough. Bad Enough's heroine is Lindy Cooper, a PI who appears by name only in Fortuneteller.
Lindy's on vacation in Costa Rica, breaking out of her good girl routine, and testing whether she's got it in her to be a bad girl. Her motive? She solves a major case, fulfilling her life-long dream, and in the process of fulfilling HER dream, finds herself at odds with everyone she knows. Her parents are worried about her safety, so they disapprove. Her fiancé ... well, let's just say THAT relationship doesn't last. Which actually kind of works out...if only because it makes Lindy realize that things have got to change.
So off she goes to fulfill a few other dreams...and that's where it gets fun!
So...here's the question: if you were Lindy, heading off to Costa Rica (or any other place you like—the important thing is you know no one here...you think) planning to break some rules, live out some fantasies....AND someone you've known for years, someone you're attracted to, shows up...and he's willing to help...
Would you take him up on it? And where would you go, and what would you do? BTW, you can use your imagination and make it all up...if your DH or SO walks into the room and says "honey, I never knew you wanted to get down and dirty on the slopes of a volcano in Iceland with Bubba from next door" you can say with all honesty you're just saying that to make the blogger-of-the-day happy, and all you really want is to be trapped in a hurricane, getting wet with him...besides, Bubba drinks dirty martinis and thinks toothpick architecture should be an Olympic sport...

You Wet Yet?
As a writer, I can think of lots of things to do (real and imagined) during a tropical storm. One of the benefits of exercising your imagination deliberately is it goes on autopilot. At least, I think it's a benefit. My friends and family might be a bit over the part where someone cuts them off in traffic and I voice an entire life story that gives them a good reason for such rude behavior.
I like doing this—which is, perhaps, obvious. Like making up stories about people (real and imagined), especially ordinary people who find themselves in unusual situations, or sensible people faced with irresistible temptation.
Rarely do I write reunion stories, which gives me an interesting challenge when writing erotic romance—because, really, what good reason is there for an ordinary woman to jump into bed with some guy she's just met? I'm assuming, of course, that the man isn't worried about reasons LOL. My favorite reason is love at first sight.
In The Fortuneteller's Lay, when Detective Devon Cole walks into Miranda's fortunetelling tent, the usual rules apply—he's irresistibly hot, she's irresistibly sexy, sparks are flying and threatening to set fire to everything...it's love at first sight, whether they know it or not. But the thing is, there's something more going on than hot cops and sexy fortunetellers...anyone know what it is that convinces Miranda to throw caution to the winds? There's a tarot candle in it for the first three correct answers (I'm allowing for variations on the theme). If you've read the story, you absolutely know it; if you've seen the excerpt (on my blog, posted in June), you probably know it; and if you've even read the blurb you can make a pretty good guess. Email me separately at laradien@cfl.rr.com if you want to play for prizes.
And give me a little time to answer, 'cause I'm gonna get wet....

The One That Got Away
Kathleen Sullivan has loved Bryce Donovan since the first time she saw him, but he was the governor's son, the golden boy, and being groomed to follow in his father's political footsteps. She's the daughter of the woman who washes his laundry. But after years of separation, the chemistry is still there and some longings simply won't be denied.
Reunited lovers...they theme seems to strike most readers in that soft spot where certain memories linger. I believe almost everyone has someone they never forget, their first love. For me, the one that got away wasn't a keeper.
Is there a man from your past you'd like to catch up with?

Putting Summer Olympics Non-Stop Watching to Good Use
Okay, so before I get slammed for belittling your favorite sport, here's the question for the day:
(The racier, the better!)
When did you fall in love with romance?
Also in sixth grade, I discovered Harlequin. Back then they only published the sweet romances, but for an adolescent girl, reading about adult love was very exciting! The first one I read was called Helping Dr. Medway. I don't recall the plot or the author, but I do recall being totally immersed in the story.
A year or so later, I stumbled upon a book called Forever by Judy Blume. Now I know you've all read that one! Though not technically a romance, because the hero and heroine don't actually end up together, it was a graphic depiction of a young woman's first sexual experience. Remember Ralph? LOL.
So my question today is, what is the first romance you ever read? For some of you, it will be The Flame and the Flower. Naughty me -- I only read that one for the first time two years ago! But I did discover Danielle Steel when I was younger, and a new series called Silhouette showcasing some new authors, one of whom was an unknown named Nora Roberts.
I can't wait to read all your responses!

Like a Cyclone
Which doesn't make me a very prolific -- or fast -- writer.
So while my characters are swirling around inside my mind like, yep, you guessed it, a cyclone, I'm struggling to carve out time to write then sweating about the choices they're making once they appear on screen.
Anyone else need more hours in the day?

Shopping and Security Guards
I loved editing this book because the characters were so believable. Who hasn't wanted to get back at an ex? Who hasn't wanted to find a hot cop moonlighting as a security guard? The chemistry between Kara and Jack is practically combustible, and the sparks really fly as Jack and Kara explore their fantasies. I love how the ex finally gets what he deserves, though I won't tell you if Kara gets what SHE deserves--a happily ever after with Jack!
Pick up MOONLIGHTING today and find out how delicious a part time job can be!

So you make the plan. Blankets, chips...gum, a splash of perfume an easy access bra and loose flowing skirt. If you're going for a home run, you want to make rounding the bases easy. lol and no, we aren't talking baseball but yep, the dying art of Drive-in Movie Theater makeout.
A warm summer night, the bed of a pick-up, and a movie I didn't really want to see or one I've already seen so I don't care that I'm missing most of it. If it's a double feature all the better. Strong hands on my quivering flesh and deep, wet kisses sending a tingle through my system and curling my toes.
I happen to be lucky enough to live a couple miles from one of the last drive in theaters. In their height of popularity in the 1950's there were nearly 4000 drive in theaters in the US. now there are approx 430. (the first opened in 1933)
So do you have a drive-in movie theater near you? And have you ever had a romantic night in the giant parking lot with rowdy teenagers in the nearby trucks? (okay, most of my experiences were from when I was one of those rowdy teenagers. And I think the toe curling was from the steel bed of the truck digging into my back. lol. they're fond memories anyway.)

Daring the Forbidden
Needing a fresh start after her husband divorces her for a younger woman, advertising exec, Catherine Lakeland, takes a position in Germany. Curious about sex with a man other than her husband but wary of the complications of a relationship, Cat trades places with her new friend, a sex worker at a brothel, for one night of pleasure but double the fun.
Today's question is...would you dare the forbidden if you knew you wouldn't get caught?

Men in Uniform
A storm hits, and a terrified Alice pulls off the highway to wait it out. She's relieved when a cop drives up and offers to keep her company. It doesn't hurt that he's probably the sexiest man she's ever met.
Not the type to flirt, let alone ask a guy out, Alice lusts after him quietly and wishes she had enough confidence and courage to act on her desires. But the storm passes and she drives away, sure she'll never see him again.
Today's question...Do you have a thing for a man in uniform? If so, name the uniform that turns you on.
Enjoy the day!

Good Morning
The engine purred to life, the motion of the car vibrated through her body. Her heart pumped as her thoughts turned to the fact she didn’t really know him. Instead of frightening her, as it should, her excitement heightened. She closed her eyes behind the scarf and tilted her head back on the seat.

A Hot Day In Heaven by Kathleen Scott
I love writing stories of mythological or emphereal beings behaving badly, while still maintaining a core of goodness. It's concepts like this that brought me to my story, A Hot Day In Heaven. Soon to be released from the Scarlet Rose line.
Here's a bit o' the blurb to tempt you...
*****
Bad things always seem to come in threes, or so Sonia St. Marie discovers as she is kicked out of her apartment during a blizzard, her job teaching art classes at an adult center gets cut and she catches her boyfriend in bed with her best friend. Needless to say, it’s not been the best of days. That is until Archer DeAngelo shows up in his black SUV smelling of exotic spices and evoking a head full of sensual fantasies.
For years, Archer has been the distraction in the back of Sonia’s mind, tempting her to wonder about his decadent lifestyle he lives and the women he’s pleasured. Just looking at him makes her dream of all the things she wants to do with him and now she’s free from her philandering boyfriend, Gabriel, there’s nothing to stand in her way.
Seeing Sonia’s distress at her homeless state, Archer offers her a place to stay: his condo overlooking Central Park . Having nowhere else to go in such inclement weather, Sonia takes him up on his offer for shelter and much more. The sexual tension that always simmered between them goes into overdrive under such close proximity. The fact Archer has made it his mission to help her put her life back together has its own advantages. But then again, Archer is only doing his job.
Fallen from grace for a difference of opinion, Archer leads a group of disenfranchised guardian angels, who are currently staying mere steps ahead of the heavenly host who wants nothing more but to see them regain their rightful place at God’s right hand. A place they no longer care to occupy. The call of the flesh is much too powerful a lure for one who is now mostly corporeal.
For Archer, all his plans for the past few years have come down to this place in time. Since being assigned as Sonia’s guardian angel, he’s wished for the day when he could make her his. Unfortunately, his former friend, Gabriel, beat him to the prize. As head of the fallen, Archer has bided his time, knowing Gabriel would fall further than any of them ever could. It’s up to Archer to find a place for the fallen in the grand plan while trying to help Sonia realize her dreams, including the more erotic ones.
