Caught You Reading!

May is "Get Caught Reading Month".  You can almost always catch me reading something. I'm one of those people who takes a book with me wherever I go. Hey, you never can tell when you might need a book to keep you company! And now that I have an e-reader, I'll sometimes take that with me and have any number of books at my disposal.

I'm so lucky that my parents were readers and that there were always books in our home.  I sometimes drove my mom to distraction when I'd rather be inside reading than outside playing! But when I began working in a school, I learned that not all children are as fortunate as I was.  It broke my heart to realize that some children had no books at all in their homes. Thank goodness for the school library!

And thank goodness for public libraries. In spite of my e-reader, I still borrow many books from my local library. I'd go broke if I didn't. As the saying goes, so many books, so little time.

So guess what, you caught me reading! Right now I'm reading "Sweet Magik" a Faery Rose novel by Penny Watson. I'm really enjoying the story of Oskar Klaus and Kianna Grant.  Oskar, one of Santa's five sexy sons, is a snowboarder and a bibliophile.  As "Director of Elfin Resources" Oskar has his hands full as he tries to win Kianna's heart, deal with a malevolent elf named Wiebe, and discover who's released the Dark Magik that's causing mayhem at the North Pole.

Did I catch you reading? Please leave a comment and tell us about the book you're reading right now. I'll be giving a $10 gift certificate to The Wild Rose Press or The Wilder Roses (your choice) to a random commenter, to help you buy even more books.  Thanks a lot!

A Question for the Readers

So, life as an author...

Not glamorous for most of us. We write. We work other jobs. We deal with families and the ups/downs just like the rest of you. We simply have overactive imaginations that we cannot stop, nor would we want to stop, because it gives us something else to do! (I'm only speaking for myself, although I'd be willing to hear what other authors say about that imagination thing.)

But, besides writing, we're also supposed to blog. That's an entirely different animal in the writing world. Here's why:

I'm not quirky. Well, I am, but only during Halloween and Mardi Gras. Then, I'm full of quirk. My online writing? Not so much.

Which gets me to thinking...

What do you as readers want from authors besides the next story? Do you like blog posts about our pets? Do you want us to be as bad/naughty/sexually adventurous as our heroines and to write about that? What really do you like to read from authors?

I'm serious in asking. I'm the type of author that stares at my website/blog page that says "New Post" like that proverbial deer in the headlights. I even resorted to posting a photo of Captain America this week. I'm that desperate for blog material. Therefore, I'm reaching out to you. Tell me what you'd like to know about me, a character, or anything at all.

I'll do my best to fulfill your blog fantasy. (That so sounds dirty, but it's virtual, which makes it clean.)

Best,
Ursula
I'm not bad. I just write that way.

Falling in love with the accident-prone but talented Briar was not what Uthiel had planned, but life with the sexy healer is adventurous, hilarious, mind-blowingly stimulating, and clearly his destiny. Celebrating a Fabulous Publisher!

Happy birthday, Wild Rose Press! I've been with the Cowboy Kink line for over a year, and I truly love it here. I'm so happy with my editor, Trish, and Diana, the head editor of the Scarlet Rose line, I know I'll be seeing many, many more birthdays as a Wild Rose author.

Here's a naughty little excerpt from my latest release, Her Cowboy Stud.

Slowing his pace, Trace eased his cock out of Macy's tight core and reached over the side of the bed for the purple bag. He dumped the contents onto the mattress beside them.

She blinked a couple times. "What are you up to?" Her voice came out hazy but her sly smile conveyed her interest.

How dark were her submissive urges? The toys he'd dumped out were basic. A rabbit vibrator, a smaller anal vibrator, heart-shaped nipple massagers, a vibrating cock ring and a tongue vibrator. All of them could be used to enhance their sex, but his tastes ran wilder. He needed to bind, to whip and clamp. Would that be too much for her? Would it send her running?

She lifted the nipple vibrators. Grinning, she asked, "For you or me?"

He chuckled. "You. Definitely." He opened the package and pressed the button to start the vibrator on one. Holding her breast in his big hand, he affixed the suction to her hard nipple.

She jumped and her breath left her with a smile. "I like that." The second vibrator caused a similar reaction, and she reached her hands over her head and grasped the pine rungs of the headboard.

His cock twitched and his balls tightened just watching her. Shit. He'd love to tie her to it, tease her and pleasure her until she cried for mercy, but that would have to wait for the next round. He needed to be inside her slit, and damn fast or he'd embarrass himself.

Picking up the big vibrator, he waited for her eyes to lock on his and wagged his eyebrows. "You won't be needin' this any more."

She laughed, a soft, tortured, seductive laugh. "No. I have my own stud, now." She glanced down at his hard rod, which made it jerk and weep for release.

"Try this," she said, reaching for the cock ring and pressing the button to turn on the vibrator through the cellophane packaging.

Hell, how would he get it on his shaft without shooting his cum? He needed a minute. He set it on her stomach, letting the vibrations tickle her bellybutton.

Macy writhed, her muscles long and sleek as she arched her back and circled her hips. He ached to be inside her sweet cunt, pumping, answering her primal rhythm. He looked away, hanging on to his control by sheer force of will. His gaze fell on the vibrating butt plug, packed in a bag with a bottle of lube. Yes. He could see how open she'd be to anal play. He held up the bag, and repeated her words. "Try this?"

A shiver rattled her body as she whispered, "Yes."

Have a great day!

Happy Birthday Wild Rose

Thanks for the memories.

And here's to the first book I published with you.

Blurb - Amanda Spencer had spent years searching for clues to her first husband's murder. Now, she was close, too close to let William VanHorn get in the way. He wanted to claim her as his wife, but she didn't have time to satisfy the man's needs. She wanted answers not sex.
Set on fire by Amanda, William wouldn't let the lady escape. If she wanted answers, he'd get them. As head of the Dragon Center, he had connections and nothing would stop him from capturing her heart.

Available in e-book and paper.

Drop by my website and read excerpts of my other books,

Happy Birthday to the Wild Rose Press

More
I love dwelling in the wilder side of the garden and have to say that I adore everyone I have had the pleasure of connecting with—editors, artists, authors, and readers. A special salute to my editor, Diana, who is lovely even when she is kicking my butt into shape. So congratulations to you all, and thank you for allowing me to hang with you on occasion.

Be sure to read below about how you can join in the birthday fun.

Here is a tiny taste of my newest from TWRPSweet Restraint (a sequel to Sweet Temptation).
Excerpt:
Why was he there? How had he found her home address? What the hell had she done? Fighting the urge to step into his sexy embrace, she slipped around him and hurried to the nice, safe kitchen where she could at least keep the table between them.
“Would you like some tea or maybe a beer? I think I have a couple. I’m not much of a beer drinker, but I keep some on hand just in case. You know for when friends stop by. Kate likes a beer now and then. Maybe it’s old. Does beer get old? I think I have some wine, too. Guys don’t like wine though, do they? Not guys like you, anyway. I don’t have whiskey or anything, but I have juice.” She laughed at the stupidity of the last offer. “Yeah, I don’t suppose apple juice does it for you either. I could—”
Savannah.” Long fingers closed over her hand when she tugged on the refrigerator door and gently pushed it closed again. “You’re rambling.”
She backed into the counter as he stepped closer. Her knees buckled. Was her throat swelling shut? Good God, how could one person smell so damned amazing?
He circled her waist with his hands and boosted her to sit on the counter, stepping between her thighs. The room dipped and swirled a moment as the man overwhelmed her. A shiver of desire raced up her spine. Leaning even closer, he kissed his way from the slight V of her work shirt to the pulse that raced in her veins. “Did you miss me, beauty?”

Happy Birthday, Wild Rose Press!

It's a very special birthday today for The Wild Rose Press! I'll always be grateful to Rhonda and everyone at TWRP for helping me attain my dream of becoming a published author. When I got "the call" from my editor at The Wilder Roses that my first book, "One Good Man" had been accepted, I was over the moon!
In "One Good Man", heroine Andie Benedetto is too shy and insecure to reach out for the things (and the man) she really wants. She's afraid of wanting what she can never have. I could identify with Andie as for a long time I was afraid to try to reach my dream of being an author. I started many stories but couldn't seem to finish any. Writing is such a solitary activity, it's easy to look at your work and think "Ugh, what's the point? I'll never make it." But with the support of fellow writers  I at last finished a manuscript. And the support from everyone at The Wild Rose Press has been incredible and everything a beginning writer could wish for.

But hey, it's not all about me! It's a celebration! Woo hoo! Happy happy birthday Wild Rose Press and may there be many more.

Happy Birthday to The Wild Rose Press

It's The Wild Rose Press 6th Birthday.  I'm so happy for the company, Rhonda, RJ, Lisa, all the editors, cover artists and authors of this great company.

I've been with TWRP for almost 3 years now and I couldn't have picked a better company to work for.  I found a home for my sexy writing and enjoy working with everyone.

Here's an except from my current release: His for the Weekend

Cassandra Adams has a problem and its name is Marcus DeLuca. The man is quite determined to have her--on his terms. Cassie has had enough of domineering men in her life, yet she's drawn to strong, virile Marcus. Tempted to get that man out of her system once and for all, she agrees that she will be his for a weekend only--but then he must leave her alone forever.

Marcus will do anything to get sexy, non-committal Cassie into his arms, into his bed--failure is not an option. He wants nothing more than to keep Cassie in his life, but he senses a secret that keeps her from being able from committing--from submitting--to any man. Will Marcus's special brand of domination free her to be his for more than a weekend?

Enjoy the day everyone.

It's TWRP Birthday - So let's add a Little Fun to Your Sex Life

The process of making love in the same old way can get boring. Admit it, and your half way there to curing the problem. Finding time, opportunity, and energy might also add to the problem. After all, who can make a grand production every time you want to jump between the sheets?

The single most important way to alleviate the problem is communication. Man or woman, sometime the people that we love don’t see the things the same way we do. If you can talk about what you want or what you’d like to try, then you can get feedback and develop a plan to make it better for both of you.

“Our sex life is boring”
“I agree.”
“How can we change it?”
“Don’t know.”
Don’t let this be the end of conversation.

Now in every article about the subject, most experts say to try different positions. Okay, it changes things up but it doesn’t necessarily add some fun, not unless you are a contortionist. Change for change sake might help a little while but it won’t increase the fun factor.

“So what will?”
“A change in attitude.”
“Oh, no, the awful statement about changing my attitude. Look, I’m tired, busy with my kids and my job. I don’t have time to play at sex. I want to get in, get out and go to sleep.”

“Fair enough, and I can relate, but I never said this would be easy. Having fun is hard work, just look at every sport out there.”

Let’s first look at a way to find ideas that will increase the fun factor.
  1. Read erotica – find a scene in a book that you think might be fun to try, have your lover read it. Then come up with a way to do it.
  2. Watch love scenes or romantic comedies, what happening in those scenes that you wish you could try. Develop it in your relationship. (A love scene in the park – try your back yard or deck.) New places can always add a thrill to the mix.
  3. Talk about it – the more you think or talk about sex the more you begin to see the potential of enjoying yourself.
  4. Be adventurous – buy sexy underwear, go commando, visit an adult toy shop, do things that open your mind to new ideas. No one says you have to try them but at least let your mind toy with the idea.

Hopefully, one of these suggestions will provide you with a way to increase the element of fun in your sex life. Then you can discover the joy of playing with your partner both in and out of bed.

Happy Birthday to the Wild Rose Press!

I'd like to say how happy I am that The Wild Rose Press is having another birthday. It's always great to have a publishing house where there is such a team effort. From my amazing editor who lights a fire under my posterior (a figurative one) to the marketing team and to the amazing cover artists, The Wild Rose Press has made me a better writer and wrapped it up in a pretty package.

Without the team here at The Wilder Roses, I wouldn't have such a sexy, amazing hero, Drew Favreau, who definitely behaves badly in my latest release. Here's to Trish Owens for pushing me and to Angela Anderson for creating a lovely cover. This author is definitely appreciative.

New Review for Hot Wired by Anita Philmar

Blurb -

Suzi Hotwired for each other... When Ross Dixon is kidnapped from his office, along with the sexy lawyer who'd been busting his balls over a deal that should have been a walk in the park, he wakes to find a devotion chip surgically implanted in his brain. If that isn't bad enough, the chip, designed to trigger emotional reactions between him and the woman lying next to him, is working overtime on his libido.

Mistaken for Ross's flavor of the month, Kayla Michaels, a 22nd century lawyer, doesn't have a problem spending time in Ross's bed--or over his desk--but she wants no part in the romantic feelings the chip is provoking. She's been down that road before and ended up burned.

Kayla and Ross struggle to find answers while coming to terms with the constant lust sizzling between them, but along the way each wonders if the emotions are real or just a side effect of being hotwired.
