Nita Ramirez Gonzalez and Calder (Call) Calverton have denied their attraction to each other for years. Now both are having erotic fantasies they can't ignore, especially when their dreams have them experiencing those fantasies through the legendary lovers who died 150 years ago.

This story came about due to the nagging… um, encouragement, Yeah, yeah, The Encouragement of WAP (Writers At Play) mates Tawny Weber and Leslie Dicken. My goal for the book was to write it strictly by the seat of my pants (pantser style) and to write ten pages a day. Leslie was curious about writing for the more erotic lines and wanted to see how I wrote for them. Tawny just likes to nag, much like WAP mate Trish Owens who's currently cracking the whip about getting edits on another book finished.

My husband and I had been to Carlsbad Caverns earlier in the year. I knew I wanted to put that experience into the book. I did more research and decided on AZ, particularly in the Four Corners region. After studying the various cultures who have left their mark on the region, I had my characters.

From beginning the concept through finishing the book, it took fourteen days. To Leslie and Tawny, it took too long. Tawny got the chapters every night and steamed up her monitor reading them. Leslie had to have me send the chapters via her personal email account because she was afraid her company's filters would censor them.

When I was finished, Tawny (Ms. Color Coordinator Plotter) had to applaud that I could write the story without an outline. Leslie became My Grasshopper Who Has Done well. Her newest Scarlet Rose story Improper Nights will be released by The Wild Rose Press on May 9.

It was a fun story to write. The edits suggested by Scarlet Rose Sr. Editor Diana Carlile have tightened it up and strengthen it.

And re: my experience at Carlsbad Caverns: I had reservations to explore one of the "wild" caves, but passed out on the way up the mountain due to heat and altitude. I recreated that the physical aspects of that incident in Turquoise Dreams

What is YOUR fantasy?

The most recent question I've been asked is "Why do you write about BDSM?" It's often accompanied by a strange look, a grimace, a curling of the lips and a wrinkling of the nose. Why on Earth would a normal person like me write about depraved acts of sexuality?

Simple. All aspects of BDSM fascinate the hell out of me. From Dominance/submission, to controlled orgasms, and whips and chains. The whole nine yards. For me it's a fantasy. It's THE ultimate fantasy. You know the one I'm talking about, the one that curls your toes and sends your hormones into overdrive. Who is Anita Philmar?

As a new writer, I thought I would introduce myself, but although this is a good question. There is no easy answer.

We are all unique in our own way. Yet, when you start telling others about who you are or what you're like, the descriptions all begin to sound the same.

I don't want to be the same. Wild and Crazy, meak and shy, at times we all have these characteristics, some of us more than others.

I'm a normal person with a husband, two kids, and two dogs. I love people and enjoy meeting new friends as well as old friends. I spend most of my time alone, because I chose to be a writer.

For some this would be the kiss of death, for me it's a joy because I can visit new worlds and go to exotic places. No rules, except the ones I create. Bad characters that my characters can slay. Situations that I control. Oh, but its great to be all powerful.

Naughty? Nice?

Some say I take it to far, others say not far enough.

No matter the opinion, I enjoy what I do. I like to take my readers on a journey through a fantasy world which stretches the imagination.

Hopefully, they have a little fun, get a little hot and have a great read.

Can't ask for more than that.

Ah, I see. Actually garlic doesn't hurt vampires, aside from the noxious smell, that is, so I hope it helps your cold ;)

Oh, (good thing I've remember to bathe in blessed water) So L., tell us what you find sexy about vampires?

hmmm....where do I start? I find it incredibly sexy that they need blood to survive, that a mortal gives them life. Add to that the feel of their teeth on your neck or wrist or thigh....the suction of their mouth as they take your blood...their eternal devotion when they find the love they've been searching for...goodness! What isn't sexy about vampires??

Hmm, yes I see your point. Well, two points, actually, slipping out from beneath your lip. Are you okay L.? Perhaps we should discuss your new release in the garden, tell us about Exiled and what you hope readers will enjoy about it.

Exiled is the story that almost wasn't but I'm awfully glad I have it out there now.
Nadia, the heroine, was first introduced briefly in Blood Ritual. She made her presence known by protesting what was going on in that story. I knew then I had to see her again, she was just too strong to ignore. She showed up again in Captive Fantasy, again a small role, but she was there and speaking to me. I wanted to tell her story more than ever after that, how she loved a man she could never have and whether or not she was as strong as I thought she was.
So I had her exiled from the safety of her coven and tossed her out into a world she hadn't been a part of for 100 years.
I'm thrilled to say, she turned out to be as strong as I had hoped and she didn't crack under the pressure, though finding a sexy hero to feed from might have helped ;)
As for what I want readers to take away from Exiled? Of course I want them to fall in love with Nadia and Daniel and I want this story to pull them just a little deeper into my world of vampires so they crave more!!!

Who is your favorite character in the book and why?

I cannot possibly choose!! I try to write main characters that become a part of me and all the secondary characters are just as special, too. Even the bad guys, or the not so nice guys, are dear to me.

Yes, I too find I love the villain just a little more than I should. What would you say are the three main ingredients for an erotic romance hero?

Well he has to be sexy!!
But maybe that's too obvious...let's see...I like my heroes to be confident but not arrogant, witty and a little sly and hungry for love!!
What would you say is your most erotic work to date?

Maybe Captive Fantasy, but again, hard question to answer because each story is different and has its own element of eroticism. Heck, they are all HOT!

When not writing, how do you relax?
Anyone who really knows me is laughing at this question ;)
But seriously, I read, listen to music, meditate, do yoga....anything AWAY from the computer!

Yesterday a friend and I were discussing wines for Valentine's Day. Rosés (they're pink? Me, I'd rather have a Sin Zin ...), Champagnes (of course!) -- and I suggested Chablis, for the perfectly reasonable reason that it traditionally goes with oysters (so does Champagne, but I was looking for variety, which we all know is the spice of love).

Of course, some of them also go very well with things like strawberries (also a great Champagne food), chocolate (a great anything food) ...
Turns out that lots of spices are aphrodisiacs as well -- cinnamon, saffron (the essential oil of saffron is said to promote extended orgasms) and coriander among them.

And then there's whipped cream. Which has this reputation of being more interesting in the bedroom than you'd think (like some people). I mean, really, it's the grown-up version of something our mothers told us was good for us and would make us strong (there is no grown-up version of spinach, though). But where does this reputation come from? It's not the taste (you could add cocoa or cinnamon -- I don't recommend adding oysters). Is it the texture? Maybe ... is it the stickiness? Or maybe it's what you can do with it (sort of like body paints). Whipped cream does have the remarkable ability to ... but see, then it's just for the excuse of licking it off.

Any favorites? Any unusual edibles we ought to know about?
