The One That Got Away

When two hearts, denied in youth, reunite, yesterday's forbidden desire becomes today's unquenchable passion.

Kathleen Sullivan has loved Bryce Donovan since the first time she saw him, but he was the governor's son, the golden boy, and being groomed to follow in his father's political footsteps. She's the daughter of the woman who washes his laundry. But after years of separation, the chemistry is still there and some longings simply won't be denied.

Reunited lovers...they theme seems to strike most readers in that soft spot where certain memories linger. I believe almost everyone has someone they never forget, their first love. For me, the one that got away wasn't a keeper.

Is there a man from your past you'd like to catch up with?

Actually there are 2. I knew both of them at the same time. And the timing sucked. When they were interested I wasn't. And when I became interested they'd given up and moved on. Still don't think I could choose between them.

Honestly, I have to say no. I've been happily married for nearly 19 years, and all the men in my life before my husband pale in comparison. Yes, it's mushy -- hope I'm not making any of you gag, LOL.

I sometimes wonder how things would be now if life with my first husband had been a little different. We were both too young and immature to hold our marriage together. Guess I'll never know.

No the men in my life are better left in the past.

That is so sweet, Helen. I wish I could say that. I have a secret place in my heart for someone and I always will. But we can't be together.

(I thought I posted here today! But if I win, Diana-- just give the story to someone who hasn't won yet, since I've won several times already!)

You're a lucky one, Helen. Actually, my dh came along at exactly the right time in my life and made me see what I was wasting my time and emotions on. So I'm a lucky one, too!

No. I am happily married to my husband of 8 years and would not want to be with any of the guys from my past. They don't hold a candle to my hubby.

My husband and I have been together for 20 years, and although he can be the biggest jerk on the planet, I think I'll keep him...LOL

I wouldn't mind catching up with my first love/HS sweetheart. :-)

There was one who just wasn't ready to commit, afraid of it, so we went our separate ways after a time . If he's finally over his commitment phobia, maybe ....

There's a great Paul Thorn song called Everybody Wishes...one of the lines is "everybody kisses the right one goodbye."

I actually did run into "the one that got away" about 8 years after we'd split up. Speaking of fate (we were, weren't me?) ...

(sigh) I hate it when my life resembles a country song....
