Hello from a new Scarlet editor!

Hi Wilder Roses!

I've been lurking behind the scenes in the garden for a while and thought it was time to introduce myself. I'm Karen, and I'm the newest editor to join the Scarlet Rose line of TWRP. Needless to say, I'm very excited to be here amongst such a great bunch (no pun intended!) of people :)

Ah, I suck at introductions. I'm British and live in the north of England in a tiny quaint village near the medieval city of York. I'm a historian and archaeologist by trade, my favourite coffee is cinnamon latte (yay for the village coffee shop!), I'm trying to grow my own salad veg (my lettuce looks like cress), and I loveloveLOVE to read!

Erotic romance is one of my favourite genres. You wouldn't believe how thrilled I was when the Black Lace imprint started in the UK back in the 1990s. I must have spent a fortune buying those books! Then I discovered e-publishing five years ago and WOW! I was in heaven! Most of the ebooks I read are erotic romances, and chances are I've read something from all of you Wilder Roses ;) I was a fan of TWRP before I became an editor here, and I've got to say my favourite series of any e-pub out there is Destination Pleasure. I've read every single one of those and look forward to many more!

I love reading historical romances and am a big fan of Mills & Boon/Harlequin's historical line. But give me a hot, raunchy historical and I'm even happier. There's so much scope with an historical - and why limit it to the Western world? I'd love to see more erotic romances set in India, or in Asia, or the Middle East or Africa. I'd love to see multicultural and interracial heroes and heroines. I'd adore it if a story set in ancient Egypt or Greece or Rome crossed my desk. I'm looking forward to reading about unusual time periods, too - from the Byzantine period through to the High Middle Ages, the late Renaissance to the Age of Enlightenment and beyond.

And what about steampunk? That's a genre that's growing in popularity right now, and delivers a mix of alternate history, fantasy and sci-fi - put it together with a sexy romance and it's perfect!

So that's me and what I like (and hope!) to read. What about you? Do you have any recommendations for historical erotic romances? I'd love to hear them!

My New Blog

I've started a new blog to gear up for my first erotic romance, Show-Off, which releases this Friday! Come by and leave a comment during the week, and you can win a copy of my book! Today I'm talking about what inspired my book. I'll be offering excerpts the rest of the week. Come see me.

Veronica Butler avoids risks as a rule, but when faced with celebrating her thirty-fifth birthday alone, she dons her sexiest dress and heads to a single's club. She’s startled when the attention she draws is that of her supervisor, Vicente Salazar. They’ve worked on the same team at an architectural firm, designing a hotel with Gaudi-influenced elements. Veronica has indulged in several fantasies starring the sexy Spaniard. Now she’s fueling his.

Though she knows it's a mistake, that this decision may affect the office atmosphere, she gives into her desire and allows him to show her exquisite pleasure in public places. From the back of a limousine to his office to an alcove in a museum, each sexual encounter is exciting, challenging, terrifying. Each encounter shows her more of who she is. Each encounter risks her heart. Now if only she can convince him to risk his.

Sapphire Night by Kaia Logan

In less than two weeks, my debut story with TWRP will be available online, and I couldn't be more excited! I wonder how long it'll take me to fall asleep on the evening of June 25th, knowing that the next day is The One?
Here's a peek at the cover, art by the talented Angela Anderson, plus the blurb and excerpt.

While setting up for a charity art exhibit, sculptor Jacquie Taylor is nearly crushed by her giant urn, but she's saved thanks to gorgeous photographer Ethan Wolfe. The artist and red-blooded woman in Jacquie longs to explore his shape, but she's engaged to another man. Then her fiancĂ© cheats, and all bets are off. Jacquie allows herself to indulge in Ethan's charms to drown her sorrows—a night so steamy and intense it leaves her breathless. But when Ethan wants more than one night of passion, Jacquie panics. How can she even think about letting another man into her life...and her heart?

"Hi," he said, stepping into the small space of the elevator. The rumble of his voice sent a little run of goose bumps up her spine.
"Hi again." She tried not to stare. He'd looked good last night in his jeans and T-shirt, but in a tux? "I guess you're not heading to the pub tonight."
"Not tonight." A smile crinkled the corners of his blue eyes. "It's the monkey suit for me."
"And a very nice monkey suit it is," she said. "Although..." Her gaze lingered on his bowtie. It was a crazy impulse, she knew, but she wanted to step closer, have a chance to inhale his scent, feel the heat of his body.
"What? Am I crooked?" He reached a tanned hand to the base of his throat.
Jacquie stepped forward. With fingers that trembled ever so slightly, she straightened the already straight bowtie. He smelled—and looked—even better up close. His blue eyes were entirely serious all of a sudden. A slow pulse began between her thighs, she couldn't look away.
"Thanks," he murmured, and seemed about to say something else when the elevator door slid open. Lights from the ceiling chandeliers and the hum of voices from the foyer washed into the small space.
"You're welcome," she said, stepping back.
There was a beat of silence, and then Ethan offered his arm. "Shall we?"
Jacquie tucked her hand into the crook of his elbow. That pulse still beat low in her belly, and the feel of his muscled arm, even through the fabric of his jacket, didn't help. This is crazy, but I don't care. This evening is already going better than I could possibly have imagined a few hours ago. In fact...
An image, startlingly vivid, flashed through her mind. Ethan's mouth coming down on hers, his hands sliding the straps of her dress from her shoulders, his hands exploring her body until she shivered and moaned...
